Say Goodbye to Giants Stadium

January 21st, 2010 FunClub

The Giants are playing, what appears to be, the same schedule they played in the ‘08 season. Well, if not the same, it’s pretty close. The Giants will be hosting their games against the Eagles and Panthers, just like they did last season. Additionally, they will be playing their three rivals between weeks- and 15, and opened the ‘09 season against Washington, again, just like the ‘08 season.

During the two weeks of preseason games and practices, the masses presumed that the Giants appeared to have built a strong defensive line. After an astonishing win against the Panthers, in their first preseason game, fans were excited about a strong season. The defensive line, in fact, is strong and ready for a good year.

Coaches have been approached about who they think are their key players this year. Tom Coughlin, for example, while supporting all of his team members, has a strong backing for Sintim (a newcomer this year), Bruce Johnson, Leger Dougable, and Tommie Hill. All of these players are on defense, and are part of the reason for the strong defensive line in the ‘09 season.

The ‘09 season will be nothing short of memorable for fans, staff, and team members. They started with the amazing win of their first preseason game, along with the return of a great receiver – David Tyree. Tyree suffered a severe knee injury shortly after Super Bowl XLII, and had to sit on the sidelines during the ‘08 season. This put the team in a bit of bind, forcing them to find new talent, which they did.

Tyree, despite of the threat of new blood on the team, appears to be confident with his position on the team. He is promising his team, and fans, that he will perform as he did prior to his injury, and that they have nothing to fear. He believes he is valuable to the Giants, and if they do not see that, that he will be just as valuable to any other team in the NFL.

So, whether David Tyree missed an entire season or not, his team or performance should not be affected; not according to him anyway. Even though his knee will never be the same, he swears that his receiving skills are just as good as they were over a year ago. Not only can he talk the game, but he proved this to be true in his performance during the game against Washington.

While the Giants have made a name for themselves with records and awards, this will be a memorable year for fans and team members. After this year they will be playing in the Meadowlands Stadium, which is where the Jets currently play – yes they will be sharing a stadium.

Whether you’ve been to a Giants game or not, this is the year to get your hands on tickets to at least one game. With the re-introduction of Tyree, their 85th anniversary, plus their last season on this field, every game should be jam packed with excitement.
