Weekly EPL Soccer Update?
This past week’s English Premier League activity saw the “best four” all win while the 2 fakers to their supremacy happened to be both beaten. Aston Villa moved back to where every person thought they might be, and Blackburn moved to where every person thinks they’ll stay.
The 1st large derby of the year produced a vintage in forward play & a nightmare in defensive action as Manchester United outdid Manchester City 4-3 with Michael Owen popping up in the sixth minute of injury period to claim the winner after Micah Richards went walkabout rather than staying with his guy.
Mark Hughes cried foul, as the fourth referee had originally stated that the game might only have four minutes of injury play, 1 minute prior to City tied it up in the last minute, incidentally, the festivity continued on for 1 minute.
Besides, the injury time allotted is a) at the referee’s discretion & b) there for both organizations. I wonder if Hughes would offer the goal back if it was City who had gotten it?
For total entertainment the match was a pleasure to see, a real seven goal affair.
Defensively it was a catastrophe.
Shay Given made 1 of the most awful mistakes of his playing days for Fletcher?s first, Rio Ferdinand had an utter blunder and was the distinct reason for two of City?s scores.
While Sir Alex Ferguson will be putting Edwin van der Sar into some kind of treatment tank to get him back playing as swift as viable, lets simply proclaim that Ben Foster won?t be Capello?s first pick in South Africa.
Peter Kenyon’s leaving from his Lead Executive position at Chelsea comes as no shock, Eugene Tenenbaum is not a fanatic of the ex-United executive & he has been living on rented time ever since Scolari’s dismissal.
There’s a mass of in-battling and back biting in the corners of power at Chelsea that could threaten to disrupt all of the organization’s great work.
