When people think of online basketball nowadays they could very well be talking about fantasy sports. You have to wonder whether some of the role players on those great Lakers teams of the 1980’s like Kurt Rambis and Byron Scott would be considered as valuable today with so much of the focus being on filling up the stat sheet the way online basketball forums like fantasy sports encourage their participants to do.

The same questions could be asked about many of the role players for the Boston Celtics that challenged Pat Riley, Magic Johnson and those LA Lakers during those NBA Championship Series. Some players just compute well to the online basketball style and stat driven society that so many focus on, while other role players may be considered scrubs. Just enjoy the opportunity to participate in something like online basketball fantasy sports, but don’t expect to win all the time.

When filling out your roster for an online basketball situation like the one fantasy sports creates you want someone like a Dennis Rodman who had a nose for the ball and could get ten to fifteen rebounds a night. It didn’t matter whether he was on the Pistons, Spurs or Bulls squad. A floor general like Isiah Thomas who could rack up the points, assists and steals on any given night would have also been a good choice for an online basketball forum like fantasy sports as he led some of those legendary Pistons teams. It probably does help to be a starter of course in order to build up your fantasy numbers and rankings in an online basketball forum like fantasy sports.
